Amanda Bailey - Key Account Manager

Amanda currently works as a Key Account Manager at Medica Packaging, Crewe, and has held that position since the beginning of 2010.

A diverse early working career saw Amanda enjoy spells as a foreign language teacher, and a bank manager. After five years of banking Amanda decided to try something completely different. Having heard of Medica's good reputation via a family member employed at the company, she applied for a temporary position within the sales office. Over a period of eight years Amanda has progressed through various positions including Sales Administration Team Leader and Account Executive to arrive at her present role of Key Account Manager.

"Over the past eight years I have enjoyed each role I have undertaken. Collectively they have provided me with great experience, which has been the foundation for my current role," says Amanda. As a Sales Administration Team Leader she supervised a group of people responsible for processing orders, schedules, and raising invoices. "As Account Executive I was able to develop customer relationships, focus on my communication skills and ensure customers' requirements were fulfilled," added Amanda.

Moving into the role of Key Account Manager within the sales team seemed a very natural progression for Amanda. She currently looks after a number of the company's key accounts, ensuring that business is running well with those customers through daily dialogue with the relevant Account Executive via telephone or in face-to-face meetings. "I aim to visit my key accounts once a month, and also set up quarterly business review meetings. We discuss performance, technical support, and new and ongoing projects. It is highly important to divide my time well between working from the office and being out on the road."

Amanda enjoys the variety offered by the job, where no two days are the same! "This is one of the reasons why I enjoy my role, as well as the regular customer contact and visits. It is so important to see customers' premises to understand how the packaging we produce is used on high speed packing and inserting lines. It not only helps to build a bigger picture of the whole process but also further helps Medica to gain an even better understanding of customer needs."
