Fourth Awards Nomination for Benson Group

Printed packaging specialist Benson Group, Bardon, Leicestershire, has announced that it has been short-listed for the fourth time this year for a major industry award. This latest nomination is for the highly prestigious PrintWeek Printing Company of the Year - the fourth consecutive year that Benson Group has made the final in this category.

Organised by the number one printing industry magazine, the PrintWeek awards represent the ultimate accolade for the 12,000 or so printers across the UK. Commenting on his company's short-list status, Managing Director, Mark Kerridge, said: "To be included in the six businesses nominated for the top award - Company of the Year - is tremendous. To have made the final line-up for the fourth year running is especially exciting, and a just reward in itself for all of the hard work put in by all of the team across the group. This can only emphasise our position as a leading supplier of printed cartonboard.

"These awards are open to every print business in the country, and for our work, and our approach to business, to be recognised as one of the best in the UK is a tremendous accolade. We have already been short-listed for three other leading industry awards this year, which indicates that 2008 is seeing our business grow even stronger, despite the huge commercial pressures that we are constantly facing," adds Mr Kerridge.

Benson Group is already a finalist in two categories for the prestigious UK Packaging Awards. The company has been selected as a finalist in both the "Cartonboard Packaging Award" and for the ultimate prize, the "Packaging Company of the Year".

The selection panel judging the quality-focused "Cartonboard Packaging Award" finalists were presented with Benson Group's work on the Sainsbury's "Taste the Difference" Fudge range, whilst the "Packaging Company of the Year" finalists were selected on overall recent business performance as well as a selection of carton samples.

The company was also judged an awards finalist earlier this year in the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) Excellence Awards. These awards are open to printers in all disciplines, and whilst Benson Group just missed out on the final prize in the "Printer of the Year" category, its selection within a short-list of four emphasised the huge strides that the company has made in recent years. "Whilst we didn't get the top prize on that occasion, we can claim to have been the only packaging company to make the final," said Mark Kerridge.
