Casualty? Not Quite as Holby Pharmacy is Re-Stocked by Medica Packaging

The sick and poorly of Holby are likely to be overjoyed and well on the way to recovery in the near future as the Holby Pharmacy, the in-house dispending chemist at the Holby General Hospital, is being stocked with new drug cartons produced by Medica Packaging, the Benson Group pharmaceutical business based in Crewe, Cheshire. The pharmacy, complete with new cartons, will be visible in December-screened editions of the BBC's Saturday night flagship drama "Casualty".

"This is probably one of the more unusual sales enquiries that we have received," confirmed Medica Packaging Sales Director Deborah Greenwood. "We were able to design a series of generic pharmaceutical packaging products incorporating the Holby Pharmacy logo, and produce the crash-lock cartons quickly in order to meet the show's tight production deadlines." The request from the purchasing team working on the Casualty programme came after the buyer had seen details of Medica on the Benson Group web site.

The cartons created include packs for paracetamol, ibuprofen +plus, co-codamol, and amoxicillin tablets.

"We are looking forward to seeing the products on display at peak time Saturday night viewing," added Deborah. "For those of us involved in the creation of the cartons, it might just add a little further excitement to an already action packed drama!" Current viewing figures for the popular hospital-based TV show are in the region of 7 million. The drama series about the staff and patients at Holby General's emergency department is the longest-running emergency medical drama television series in the world. It is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary, having first hit our screens in September 1986.
