Integrated Fire Tests Disaster Recovery
May 2008
The Benson Group, Leicester, has released information regarding a small fire that took place at its Integrated Packaging operation in Gateshead last Thursday (May 15th, 2008). The fire occurred in a compressor room, and disrupted printing operations for several hours during that day.
The fire was swiftly brought under control, and disaster recovery plans were quickly put into place, transferring job data files to other sites within the group to ensure that production deadlines were not seriously affected. Integrated Packaging produces high quality printed cardboard packaging for the food industry.
Commenting on the fire, Andrew Pybus, general manager of the Integrated Packaging site, said: "The fire was brought under control very quickly, and the local fire service was with us within minutes. Our own staff were also excellent, and responded very professionally, putting disaster recovery plans into place immediately, which ensured no noticeable loss of production. Our group colleagues at PDG, which is just five miles away from us in Newcastle, were made aware of the situation, and were able to accept our pre-press files electronically, and carry on printing."
