Chrysalis of a Carton from Medica

February 2012

Medica Packaging is preparing to unveil a breakthrough product set to revolutionise the pharmaceutical packaging industry.

Connect with Deborah Greenwood on LinkedInThe Crewe based subsidary of Benson Group will be revealing the breakthrough Chrysalis Carton at the forthcoming Pharmapack Europe exhibition in Paris. The exhibition runs from 15 -16 February 2012.

Register to attend the launch at PharmapackThe Chrysalis Carton from Medica Packaging provides an innovative packaging solution that permanently connects the outer carton and patient information leaflet (PIL) together. The design keeps the leaflet compact and accessible for when the consumer needs access to information about the product. The easy-tear perforation on the back panel of the pack allows the consumer to access information without destroying the whole carton. With the patient information leaflet already attached to the pack there is no need to insert a separate PIL along with the pack contents.

Commenting on the innovative approach of the Chrysalis Carton, Deborah Greenwood, Sales Director of Medica Packaging, said: "The innovative design also has the ability to simplify the manufacturing process. As the carton is supplied with the leaflet already applied, there is no need to insert it separately. This allows for increased output through faster product inserting, whilst simultaneously decreasing costs."

The patented packaging product is being brought to the market by Burgopak Healthcare & Technology and is manufactured under license by Medica Packaging Ltd.

Pharmapack Europe is an international exhibition bringing together, under one roof, over 260 leading worldwide suppliers of packaging and drug delivery solutions to the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and healthcare industry. Medica Packaging will be located on stand 120.

Medica will also be promoting the benefits of its recently developed seven-panel carton pack, along with other innovative packaging solutions. The company will use its 2012 appearance at the show to focus on its ability to produce the three core elements of pharmaceutical packaging in one single facility. "Our Crewe factory offers the ability to produce cartons, patient information leaflets, and printed self-adhesive labels under one roof," confirmed Deborah Greenwood. "This can be a significant benefit to our customers, with just one site approval needed for all three packaging elements."
