Benson Makes Packaging Awards Short-List Twice

Packaging specialist Benson Group, Bardon, Leicestershire, has announced that it has been short-listed in two categories for the prestigious 2008 UK Packaging Awards. The company has been selected as a finalist in both the "Cartonboard Packaging Award" and for the ultimate prize, the "Packaging Company of the Year".

The company, which specialises in the production of food and pharmaceutical cardboard packaging products, is already looking forward to the night when the award winners are named. This takes place at a special awards night on November 3rd at Grosvenor House in London's Park Lane, where the "great and good" of the UK packaging industry will assemble.

Commenting on the short-list status, Mark Kerridge, Managing Director of Benson Group, said: "Naturally we are delighted to have been selected as a finalist in two categories for these awards, which showcase the very best in UK packaging production. Being selected in the top three for both of these important categories demonstrates to our customers that both our product quality and our business focus are being judged as amongst the very best by leading industry figures."

The selection panel judging the quality-focused "Cartonboard Packaging Award" finalists were presented with Benson Group's work on the Sainsbury's "Taste the Difference" Fudge range, whilst the "Packaging Company of the Year" finalists were selected on overall recent business performance as well as a selection of carton samples.

The company had already been judged an awards finalist earlier this year in the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) Excellence Awards. These awards are open to printers in all disciplines, and whilst Benson Group just missed out on the final prize in the "Printer of the Year" category, its selection within a short-list of four emphasised the huge strides that the company has made in recent years. "Whilst we didn't get the top prize on that occasion, we can at least claim to have been the only packaging company to make the final," said Mark Kerridge.
