Carton Printing

In order to achieve the very highest standards in carton printing Benson Group employs eleven modern litho printing presses within its food plants, capable of handling substrates of up to B1 in format, at speeds of up to 18,000 sheets per hour. The number of presses employed means that the Group can cope with significant demand in a short period of time, providing an unparalleled carton printing capacity. Presses are equipped to print with UV inks and coatings.

Precision engineered equipment delivering up to 6-colour print comes from the world's leading printing press manufacturers, including products from Komori, Heidelberg and manroland. These market leading presses are equipped to provide short make-ready times and maximum speed, with all presses configured to produce in-line UV varnishing.

Manufacturing control procedures at Benson Group regularly monitor the performance of each press, measuring the number of make-readies carried out, the number of sheets printed, and the average printing speeds of the presses.

Ink laboratories

The Group has recently invested in further on-site ink laboratory equipment to ensure all ink matching and mixing is to the required quality and consistency. This helps to ensure that ink used in geographically disparate sites can be matched on the press. Group companies also utilise specialist equipment to carry out taint testing on boards before and after production, keeping detailed records of the results for future reference.
