The management of the supply chain is an important area of business for Benson Group customers, and therefore it is an important area for Benson Group. Working closely with customers with regard to product usage and stock information, Benson Group is able to closely monitor stock levels of packaging, and via these methods puts itself in the best position to propose the most efficient and cost effective manufacturing solutions.

The focus of supply chain management at Benson Group is via dedicated sales administrators: individuals dedicated to managing and monitoring customer accounts within the business. This person is able to develop a close working relationship with the customer.

Benson Group's own supply chain management issues come into play in the overall picture as well, with a materials requirement planning programme in place with regard to board stocks, ensuring that orders are generated as packaging board is used, with continual minimum quantities held in stock.

Deliveries are another key area of focus within the overall supply chain management picture. Benson Group demonstrated how to take both deliveries and the environment seriously when it purchased Euro 5 compliant delivery lorries. These latest vehicles feature a double-deck design within the trailer section, allowing the storage of up to 50 pallets, rather than the usual 26. The Euro 5 status is a strict standard that demands new engines and a new type of catalyst. The SCR catalyst uses urea (also known as AdBlue) in lorries' exhausts to reduce NOx emissions and particulate matter by as much as 20% and 80% respectively. Given that Euro 5 vehicles emit half the amount of NOx of a Euro 4, this is a highly effective way of improving air quality, as well as delivering more printed packaging.
