Finishing
Cut and crease
Die cutting and creasing departments within the Benson Group are equipped for cutting folding box board. Departments also offer the facility of embossing cartons and can pre-make-ready off-line to keep costs down and machine productivity high.
The Group is continually looking to stay ahead of customer demand, as demonstrated by regular installations of finishing equipment.
Pick and place
Specialist equipment is employed to incorporate rigid, three sided plastic windows into pharmaceutical packaging product. The pack design offers higher visibility of the product, but requires a more durable material to be inserted and held in place within the cardboard surround. Pick and place windows are utilised across a variety of product sectors.
Gluing
Gluing machines allow sites to produce a variety of styles including straight line, crash lock, four corner, six corner, as well as integral fitments. Latest packing products include a sampler device so that samples can be removed from every outer. Machines are also equipped with full bar code and glue detection system linked to the gluers own ejection system.
The latest folding and gluing investment at Medica Packaging incorporates an in-line Braille device. The Bobst Alpina II is a 500 meter per minute machine for folding and gluing straight-line and crashlock cartons up to 1,100 x 800mm in size. The AccuBraille unit added to this line is the first in the UK, and applies significantly better quality Braille text than traditional production techniques.
